Why Submit Insurance Claims Electronically?
All electronic insurance claims go through multiple levels of error checks resulting in less errors and denials.
Electronic claims are processed faster by the insurance companies. You will get paid faster. For most insurance companies, you will receive your Explanation of Benefits or Payer Claim Summary within 2 weeks.
Save Money: Printer ink, paper, envelopes, HCFA paper, stamps.. all of these expenses are bypassed when you submit a claim electronically.
Do you need to sign up with a clearinghouse?
No! You will do everything from within Therabill. You will create the claims within Therabill and we will handle the routing of the claims to the various clearinghouses. For the most part, you will not even realize the clearinghouse is there.
There is one exception. There are some insurance companies that require clearinghouse authorization (pre-enrollment). If this is the case, Therabill will send you the required forms with instructions. You can usually expect pre-enrollment with most Medicare and Medicaid.
You can still submit by paper
Sometimes you will need to send a paper claim through the mail to an insurance company. In addition to electronic claims, Therabill will also create a pre-filled CMS-1500 that you can print out and send to the insurace company if needed.
